The Commune

’The Commune’ is a Danish feature film from 2015, directed by Thomas Vinterberg and produced by Zentropa. The story takes place in Copenhagen in the Seventies, and portrays the struggles of a group of visionaries in a newly established commune. My challenge as a location scout was finding a set of locations matching the aestetics and atmosphere of Denmark anno 1976 in a convincing manner. An interesting and time-consuming task, which resulted in filming on locations at Nyhavn and Strandvejen. As the location manager on the production I obtained all permits for roadblocking, and took additional precautions in keeping our locations 100% free from modern vehicles and passengers that could interfere with the portrayed period of time. A great challenge and a great movie.
